Type of Machine: Sewing and Embroidery Machine
What We Like: The overall variety of features on the NQ3000D make it comfortable to use, while the larger sewing space and pivot function actually make sewing much easier. The colour screen is clear and easy to read, and the automatic needle threader (a staple on all Brother machines) is a lifesaver.
What We Find Frustrating: As to be expected at this price point, the NQ3000D’s screen is a little small, and the combination of part touch function, and part key-pad function means that you are picking up and putting down your stylus a frustrating amount. The needle plate is also frustrating, with removal requiring unscrewing with a screw-driver – a disappointing step back from previous models.
Points That You Should Keep In Mind When Purchasing: The Brother NQ3000D is an excellent mid-range machine, and gives a good amount of comfort to your work, with a nice little colour screen, a well-sized (260mm x 160mm) embroidery hoop, a wider-than-usual sewing bed, and time-saving pivot function. This machine is an excellent next-step option for those who have outgrown their starter machine, and the perfect first-step machine for those who want to get into machine embroidery and have lots of room to grow.
